Below is the 7 day 'Complete Harry Potter Tour'. We can arrange tours of any duration based on any combination of the destinations below. Some of our most popular packages include 2-4 days tour including any combination of Oxford, Lacock, Gloucester and London.
DAY 1 – LACOCK VILLAGE
First stop is Lacock Village via Black Park (Iver), Buckingham, where the scenes in the woods and Hagrid’s Cottage were shot. The Abbey cloisters are used as a setting for Hogwarts School. Instantly recognisable are Professor Snape’s Potion Room, Professor Quirrell’s classroom and where Harry and Ron looked at their reflections in the ‘Mirror of Erised’. Later, we can see where Harry’s parents were murdered by Voldermort. Overnight in Gloucester
DAY 2 – GLOUCESTER & BRIDGNORTH
Located in the city of Gloucester, the stately Gloucester Cathedral choir and its cloisters are part and parcel of the film. Also, the King’s School and the Norman Cathedral provided settings for the films – including ghost scenes and the talking-portraits in ‘Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone' and scenes featuring the ghost Moaning Myrtle and the mysterious appearance of the red writing in Hogswart’s corridors in ‘Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets’. Also in Gloucester we visit the Owl Centre at Muncaster Castle, which hás over 50 different types of owls, including many of those types seen in the film.
Late afternoon we depart Gloucester and drive to Bridgnorth totake the Stean Train – Hogwarts Express style – at the Severn Valley Railway in Bridgnorth, Shropshire. Overnight stop en route to Goathland
DAY 3 – GOATHLAND VILLAGE
A visit to Goathland Station in North Yorkshire, which was used as Hogsmead Station. Overnight in Durham
DAY 4: ALNWICK & DURHAM:
Alnwick Castle in Northumberland provided the exterior shots of Hogwarts. The Quidditch match and the broomstick flying lessons were filmed within the castle ramparts. A sign outside the castle recently read ‘The exterior of Hogwarts School’.
Durham Cathedral provided the setting for one of Hogwart’s classrooms as well the memorable scene in which Harry walks through the cloisters with his owl, Hedwig. Overnight in the midlands en route to Oxford.
DAY 5 – WOODSTOCK & OXFORD
First to the historical city of Woodstock where we find a few settings beside the old tree which was filmed in ‘Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix’. Then on to Oxford, Harry Potter central! Overnight in Oxford.
DAY 6 - OXFORD
The town of Oxford has been used for a significant number of scenesin the Harry Poter films. There, you can see the Bodleian Library (where we find the Divinity School which was used as Hogwarts` Hospital, and the Duke Humphreyís Library where Harry tries to find out about Nicholas Flamel); Christchurch College (building which provided the Great Hall, the Great Staircase and the Trophy Room, where Harry is shown the trophy his father won as a seeker in Quidditch in the first film). In the later films ‘Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets’ and ‘Harry Potter and the Globet of Fire’, Oxford provided the settings for the ‘defence against the Dark Arts’ scene in which Mad-eye Moody demonstrates the three unforgivable curses, Malfoy’s transformation into a ferret and Ron’s dancing lessons. DAY 7 - LONDON
Our last stop is London. We visit King's Cross station which provided the film's magical Platform 9 3/4 and has starred in most of the Harry Potter films. Then on to London Zoo, used for the magical scene where Harry realises he has the special powers to communicate with snakes in 'Harry Potter & The Philosopher's Stone'. A sightseeing drive with photo stops at Big Ben, the River Thames and Houses of Parliament (seen on Harry's arrival in London), before ending the tour at Australia House on the Strand (the Wizards Bank run by goblins).
